Who are you when your wife isn’t around?

What decisions do you make when no one can see?

Who you are when you are alone is who you really are.

It is easy to mask our true identities to others even our wives. We can show them the well-polished facade. We can use words and even actions to show who we think we are. But in the bible would tell us a different story.

“But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.” – 1 Samual 16:7

Although the people around us judge us by our outward appearance, God looks at our hearts. We must evaluate who we are in private because that is the man that will stand before God.

“Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive his commendation from God.” – 1 Corinthians 4:5

Let us strive for the high commendation of our Lord and savior. Not for the sake of salvation but for the love we have for God, our wife and our children.

“The righteous who walks in his integrity— blessed are his children after him!” – Proverbs 20:7
